When planning an event have you ever wondered what is the difference between an event/wedding planner and a event/wedding stylist? Confusing, right? There may be some overlap but BOTH are significant and BOTH will make your life so much easier and give you a beautiful stressfree event! However, every event doesn't require both while others may. To clear all this up and give you some tools on deciding what professionals would be most valuable to you, let's look at the overlap first!

Often people think they do the same things and this in some instances can be true.

Althought there is some overlap in what we do there are some key differences

Wedding/Event Stylist

Wedding and Event stylists' responsibilites is to create a positive impression, to stir of past positive memories and to create a new memorable experience for guests and event go-ers through asethetics. Creating visual impact is a main goal of the stylist.

Stylist meet with clients to discuss color palette, theme, intrests, vision, vibe and all other things asthetic related. We acheieve the look by designing/crafting/using elements such as (super condensed list)

1. floral design

2. hand made props

3. backdrops

4. rentals

5. paper goods

6. dessert table

7. photo booth props

8. set-up

Wedding/Event Planner

Think of a wedding/event planner as a project manager. Their responsibility is accomplish a project at a set budget. Throughout the cycle of the project they manage multiple teams and moving parts. Logistics, time management, budget management are examples of some managed by he wedding/event planner while taking into account the stakeholders in the event ( the individul/individulas invested in the project).

The event planner overseas the entire project. He or she does the following to succesfully carry out and event (not and exhaustive list whatsoever)

1. understands the clients goals (hopes and dreams)

2. handles scheduling logistics

3. manages budget

4. coordinates with vendors

5. handles contracts

6. provides a list of preferred vendors (i.e. event stylist)

7. scouts venues

Wedding stylists and planners we may work together shoulder to shoulder. After all, a stylist is a vendor that planners may go to for help in achieving the event goals. If a client does not work with a planner, they may work with the stylist directly.

You see, we play different roles and we do different things. But in the end, we work with clients, brides, and couples, to make their event, the most memorable ever!
